About Rotting Research

Rotting Research was created as a result of a dissertation about the effects of link rot on scholarly publications. It began as a command-line tool called Linkrot, which still powers the backend of this project. Now, Rotting Research is a growing web app that allows users to upload PDFs and receive a report on the links contained within. The report includes the number of links, the links that are still valid, as well as various commonly-used persistent links.

The mission of Rotting Research is to help researchers and scholars check their publications for symptoms of link rot and educate them on ways to mitigate the problem.
